PathWorkbench FeatureArea tool and Reversing a Step file to create tool paths

Here you will find the Step file and the finished FreeCad file for this video tutorial https://youtu.be/qqPFeRhajpM along with the code I used to do all the magic you see in the video. I start with a step file then turn it into a 2D to create some sketches from. Those sketches are used for creating ...

Re: Non-Looped Contour/Edge Cutting?

Note the Feature2 example does not have myPath operation in the job tree(group). The pocket operation in there was to see if it would do a tool path like i wanted which myPath does. I wanted the tool starting on the outside and working its way in. In the featurepathexample 3 file I only worked with ...

Re: Limitations on creating simple paths.

After viewing this thread https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=24833&start=10 and using realthunders method I am very pleased with the Feature Area tool and this should stay with Freecad. With this approach I am able to to toolpaths the way I want them ran and in what order and manner w...

The macro is easy to edit for other needs like tool number, beginning prep code and ending prep code for all your needs. Simple step down profiling of a line.

DXF lines straight to GCode

These two macros take a single selected line from an imported DXF file and generate the Gcode to cut in step down fashion along the line. It ask for the depth you want to cut, step down amount, tool diameter, which side of the tool the line will be on when you go clockwise or counter clockwise. One o...

Re: Dxf hole patterns straight to Helical GCode

Path workbench is great and does need more development. I am not doing anything else to this macro and it took me like 2 hours to create it while my machines are running. I use Matercam, Solidworks, Fushion360 (python included) and BobCad on top of playing with FreeCAD and none of them are the best ...

Re: Dxf hole patterns straight to Helical GCode

I set the default tool diameter but forgot the dxf i was testing with had holes less than the diameter of the tool. I will correct it in the code section but not in the uploaded file. Not sure how the comma or period thing works for the german version. Also this was not made for DXF files with other...

Re: Dxf hole patterns straight to Helical GCode

Thanks chrisb for checking this out. You do not need to select any of the circles the code is designed to select them all automatically. Did you use a negative number for your z depth? Use all positive numbers and do not add thou, mm or inch at the end of the number like you would in other interface...

Dxf hole patterns straight to Helical GCode

This Script takes all the holes imported from a DXF and generates GCode for helical milling cycles.I created this for doing counter bores mostly. Step1. Create a new Document Step2. Import A DXF file Step3 Run the HelicalDxfToGcode macro and it will create the GCode NOTE: This is for DXF files with ...
