[solved] python3 exception

I need some help with exceptions in python3. When a workbench or command fails the traceback is always "unknown". <unknown exception traceback> Searching for this in the source gives this result: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/master/src/Base/PyTools.c#L281 So the unknown traceback is cause...

Re: Porting to python3

Finally a python3-conda-package to test freecad with python3:
Instructions to install the package are on top of the python3-wiki: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Python_3

Re: Ipython Qt Console

You mentioned libicu? What bug(s) are you referring to? Also what other non conda dependencies are we talking about here? No bug. Only a little dependency problem. Moving forward one library will brake others which do not depend on a fixed version number... Jupyter depends on on many libraries. I t...

Re: Ipython Qt Console

Any upstream tickets worth following ? If so, let's post them to this thread so we can track them? I think conda isn't that related to the jupyter-stuff. But jupyter recomends conda to install the jupyter-project. There is a conda-thread here in the forum. http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Ipython Qt Console

this is quite unstable. I encounter problems from time to time. With anaconda I thought to have a stable alternative but recently encountered problems with nvidia nouveau driver (linux kernel update...) Right now this is working for me with the anaconda jupyter builds. But conda-forge is moving forw...

Re: print full traceback when Init.py / InitGui.py fails to load

while at startup the traceback is included in the logfile, the traceback on workbench.initialize is totally suppressed. I think we should handle this in a consistent way. Python-users are used to have the traceback added to the exception message. So I would vote for python consistency in FreeCAD. J...

Re: print full traceback when Init.py / InitGui.py fails to load

For python programming it would be quite useful to have better traceback outputs. Another example: libicui18n.so.58: Kann die Shared-Object-Datei nicht öffnen: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden <unknown exception traceback> (rises in workbench.initialize()) while at startup the traceback is incl...

Re: Porting to python3

Certainly in Draft I never relied on the order of dict elements I think. There was only the issue with the snapping/tracking icons. But I think there the order is quite important or not? Little reminder: python3-branch compiled with python2 has now some problems with the extensions... #0 0x00007fff...
