Re: sweep-error

ah there is the problem. I don't know where this comes from. The wires have a longer history. It's originally from a feature-python object which i have draft-downgraded. If I can find out a way to reproduce I will come back, but I think there is something wrong with my python-code.

sweep-error

Sweeping this two wires along the sketch-line should give the same output as a loft, but the sweep-profiles get transformed. sweep-error.png OS: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.15.4664 (Git) Branch: master Hash: 4e41e535ff01d39b650add123f42629e1a8d6...

Re: Bevel Gear

if you want a good meshing bevel gear, I think you should take a spherical involute curve for the teeth. If you want to simulate a cutted bevel-gear you should have a look at octoid teeths. If meshing doesn't matter you can go with a loftet involute-gear, which has two different modules for the sect...

Re: How to loft and cut in Python?

you can also try this, but it will not result in a parametric object.

obj1 = Part.makeLoft([wires], ...)
obj2 = Part.makeLoft([wires], ...)

trimmed_shape = obj1.cut(obj2)

Re: display scalar-data on mesh

I thought this would be more difficult. For anyone interested, here is the link to the pivy-example I have used to get this done: https://bitbucket.org/Coin3D/pivy/src/8eab90908f2a3adcc414347566f4434636202344/examples/Mentor/05.2.IndexedFaceSet.py?at=default and here is a picture from the output. so...

display scalar-data on mesh

Are there already some freecad-python-commands to get a nice colored mesh from the results of an boundary calculation or should I take pivy/coin for that task?
thanks, nice regards
