Re: Which Workbench is similar to AutoCAD 2D?

There is no FreeCAD workbench that is a clone or work-alike of ACAD. Architects tend to use Arch and/or Draft. It sounds like you want Draft. Maybe Sketcher to layout the basic floor plan, then Draft to make it pretty. Umm. What? Your two paragraphs seem to contradict each other. For me, it's prett...

Re: parametric pants

When I think of parametric clothing the first thing that comes to mind are running shoes, for athletes, footballers, basketballers, and the like. Is there a huge variation with pants? On first impression I think having parametric dress shirts would be more important. I feel that people tend to vary...

Re: Trying to unwrap a surface

If you can create a mesh, it's possible to use the unwrap mesh command from mesh-part workbench.

Re: How is smesh (salome mesh) module maintained in FreeCAD

an easy way to maintain is to include netgen into FC somehow, git submodule It is the cheap and easy way, yes. But it just postpones the problems to a later time. Not being able to use the upstream version makes it very difficult to integrate patches and fixes. In my opinion, freecad should not hav...

Re: cmake trying to modify distro package installed system files.

CMake Error at /lib64/cmake/Qt5Core/Qt5CoreMacros.cmake:131 (file):
I guess the problem is not freecad but the cmake-config's for the qt-version installed on your system. Best to have a look at this file line 131 and see what it tries to do.

Please clarify which workbench you are talking about. There is a Part Workbench, and also a PartDesign Workbench.

Also, there is no log attached.
This is a general problem of current pyside2 versions because of wrong refcounting. I guess there is not much we can do.

parametric pants

This is a project I had in my mind for a long time. Several attempts lead to no result but finally, I was able to do so with the help of assembly3 (placing sketches at points created by a "master-sketch", lattice2 to extract geometry in a parametric way. The creation of patterns and additional modif...

Re: glider workbench

This workbench seems to be interesting for quite a lot of people. Should it be integrated in the Addon manager? Not possible to due difficult (compiled) dependencies (mainly parabem, meshpy). We provide easy installation with conda. In my mind this is a good compromise between maintainability and s...
