Re: Units, trying to get correct results with Calculix

Any consistent unit system should be ok.

Units, trying to get correct results with Calculix

The units Calculix does not use units itself, we have to use consistent unit system. I think, mm,N,s,K ( Calculix 2.7 manual, page 18 ) should be the best choice: Input: Force [N] Length [mm] Young Modulus [MPa or N/mm^2] Output: Displacement [mm] Stress [MPa or N/mm^2] Meanwhile FreeCAD uses kPa i...

Re: coin3d doc Error

Not sure about Gentoo, but other distros have Coin3d docs installed in /usr/share/doc/libcoin80-doc

Then you can set Coin docs path manually, via eg. cmake-gui:

Code: Select all

COIN3D_DOC_PATH /usr/share/doc/libcoin80-doc
and

Code: Select all

COIN3D_DOC_TAGFILE /usr/share/doc/libcoin80-doc/html/xmlparsing.html

Could you share some details about your experiments? Is it an Oculus SDK integration or a completely custom work?

Re: Any nearer to FreeCAD 0.14 going GA.

I posted some info on r/linux and r/freecad just after the release. Big subreddits (like r/linux) are probably stronger than any other website.

Re: Can't open anything

1333 MHz is not much for a new PC. Seems like a low power laptop? I don't think so. It's probably frequency scaling (power management), notice BogoMIPS. In my case, light load: CPU MHz: 1200.000 BogoMIPS: 4389.96 Heavy load: CPU MHz: 2201.000 BogoMIPS: 4389.96 Even funnier, lscpu have no idea about...

Re: FEM Instructions

FreeCAD is compiling with Netgen from Ubuntu 14.04 repository for me. I can mesh shapes and add constraints without errors. The biggest problem is Calculix installation. Paths need some tuning, inside MechanicalAnalysis.py you can see Windows-specific stuff: self.CalculixBinary = FreeCAD.getHomePath...

Re: Testing if object is visible outside of FreeCAD executab

Wow, great! One small, aesthetic thing. If I see correctly, you use flat shading for all objects. It is possible to use both flat shading (looks ok for blocky things, like a box) and smooth shading (looks better for spheres or toruses) alternatively. The shading method is dependent on crease angle. ...
