Re: Polish forum

I have some mixed feelings about that. Look at Japanese or Italian forum, they are too small and they just have increased the knowledge fragmentation.

Re: FreeCAD as a cad2web Engine

This makes me think, in GTK3 they also experimented, a couple of months ago, with rendering gtk widgets inside a browser window. Maybe that kind of stuff becomes possible with qt too at some point... Another option is QT Emscripten port http://vps2.etotheipiplusone.com:30176/redmine/projects/emscri...

Will your code compile against sdk3?

Re: FreeCAD-VR: Oculus Rift

Good news: Oculus open-sourced DK1 - Firmware, Schematics, and Mechanicals for the Oculus Rift Development Kit 1. Edit: http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/fcoculus2.png The Rift model it's a good example to test FreeCAD renderer performance/improvements, I think. About 400 000 triangles and most of the...

Re: FreeCAD-VR: Oculus Rift

The new Direct To Rift mode is not even work under Windows with OpenGl, only DirectX so far. Using the Rift as an additional monitor is a pain in the ass. So we will see a lot of driver hacking and changes in the next months! "OpenGL working in Direct HMD mode using Direct3D interoperability (updat...

Re: FreeCAD-VR: Oculus Rift

But how difficult and how much work would it be to make this work? It uses a smartphone, so you have 2 options: a) video streaming from PC, unacceptable bacause of latency (compression+transmission+decompression > 50ms) b) port FreeCAD (or Coin3D viewer) to Android. It could work, see Samsung Gear ...

So if some one of the Linux devs has a Rift, I would be glad we could port it...
Unfortunately there is no DK2 and SDK 4.x support on Linux yet:(

Re: NON-video step by step introduction

Hi, http://freecad-tutorial.blogspot.de is blind to beginners difficulties. telling me "Draw a rectangle, constrain it and close the sketch" Older, eg http://freecad-tutorial.blogspot.com/2011/09/engine-1-piston-pin-and-pin-ring.html texts should be easier - I cannot write "Press space to hide the ...
