Re: What is the system requriments for Freecad?

Surprise, FreeCAD is available in the standard Raspbian repositories. Unfortunately, I have no real hardware to test FreeCAD. http://en.zimagez.com/miniature/fcpi.png The image shows FreeCAD running on the Qemu-ARM emulator. Re: compile for Windows from Linux and run in wine

And it's pretty straightforward on Debian/Ubuntu, Disagree, it was pretty straightforward two years ago, when FC was a much simpler package. Today you have to meet dozens dependencies and resolve problems - coin60 vs coin80, pivy (internal or external?), shiboken (what it is? something about that j...

Re: Anti-Aliasing

It may be a Debian wheezy issue. I got the same message with a Radeon HD4670. OpenGL vendor string: X.Org OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV730 OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 8.0.5 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20 IIRC MSAA for R600g (Radeon HD2000-6000) driver was introduce...

Re: Anti-Aliasing

Maybe someone else can confirm this but none of the MSAA types seem to work on my Ivy Bridge HD4000 chipset. Works fine for me. glxinfo | grep OpenGL OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2 OpenGL core profile...

Re: Anti-Aliasing

From the error message I think, that graphics card was gone out of RAM. FYI: If you are using open source drivers, you can draw some graphs (to monitor VRAM usage) inside the FreeCAD GL viewport: GALLIUM_HUD=VRAM-usage,requested-VRAM freecad MSAAx8, 300MiB memory usage: http://en.zimagez.com/miniat...

Re: HTML 5 and WebGL support (discussion)

I read a interesting article about amazon which rewritten all the PHP stuff they had in C++, cause it was twice the fast and they could spare half their server. So for serious stuff you will not use PHP or Ruby on Rails in the future.... Never say never. Facebook HipHop PHP VM https://github.com/fa...

Re: HTML 5 and WebGL support (discussion)

Mozilla has showed countless number of WebGL and asm.js demos lately: [1] , [2] , [3] , [4] , [5] , [6] They try convince programmers that a heavy desktop app can be easily ported to Javascript and users that the app will achieve great (near to "native") performance. An advanced 3D CAD application c...

Re: Simple engine animation

Great work! Is all translation and rotation is calculated by Python script? This is not graphically astounding or complex, but moves! Next step: borrow the aircraft engine from an other thread and create "graphically astounding or complex engine animation". I can share some theory: http://upload.wik...

Re: FreeCAD renderer is CPU bounded (at least for me)

@kwahoo Yes your principally right, but ;) The render in Coin is a so called RenderAction which traverse the tree and do all kind of stuff. E.g. decide which Level of Detail needs to be rendered and if the object (Part) is in the view frustum at all. And a lot more.... I noticed an interesting thin...
