Re: Mirror bottom in Z-

That's display gravy. Evidently it's cool to look at, but it must be CPU/GPU intensive, would it? Would it be possible to not compute when the user translates or rotates the view? Then it would not impact display performance too much. Is it useless? Quite! :D But pro CAD software already do it: NX ...

Re: Mirror bottom in Z-

If your talking about having that feature in the standard 3D view, that would take a brand new 3D render engine. My first thought on that would be something like the quake render or some other 3D game engine, but all of those work from meshes and that would not be that compatible with FreeCAD I wou...

Re: 2014 Google Summer of Code

I learnt how to do some very simple stuff with BRL-CAD a few years ago, when FreeCAD was, I think, about 0.8 or 0.9. At that time, with FreeCAD being very useless ... ... I spent some time with BRL. It was very difficult to learn to use, nothing like as easy as FreeCAD. They had a new GUI ca...

Re: Orientation of Y axis in Technical Drawings?

Hi, I'm late, sorry - just my 2 cents. IMO QT approach is caused 30 years computer GUI legacy. I'm very happy that Luke is going to fix the coordinate system. CS's are very inconsistent: - QT or Windows GDI is Y+ downwards, X+ rightwards, OpenGL is Y+ upwards - OpenGL uses right-handed XYZ CS in 3D,...

Re: Show your FreeCAD projects here!

I'm impressed. Spacether makes more sophisticated things in FreeCAD than many people (including me) in the commercial CADs.

It looks like you made them with a 3d printer? Is it your own printer?
It is probably downscaled or wieszak17 has a very big printer;) The model is a Polish steam lomotive wheel I think.
