Re: Ellipse Angle?

I'm confused about the Part geometric primitive ellipse Angle0 and Angle1 inputs. I incorrectly assumed that I could measure the angles defining a partial circle, and match an ellipse directly, using the measured angles. I believe the issue relates to the difference between the minor and major radi...

Re: Issues with full parametric export/import

There is an option in IFC export/import preferences where one needs to tick 'export full freecad parametric objects'. I did so. When I did export by unticking that option, the geometries got successfully imported but were non-parameteric. If you do export import non-parametric, what is the status? ...

I tried full parametric export of a sample model into IFC and when imported that IFC, the components got distorted.
You mean, from FreeCAD, IFC export works great, but IFC import is not perfect.

Was there any option during import, which you neglected?

Re: Reference of spreadsheet by Alias

No, not immediately. But if you rename a Spreadsheet in the history tree, then close the Spreadsheet tab at the bottom of the 3D view, and double-click the Spreadsheet in the history tree to open it again, it re-open with the new name. Yes. It looks like workaround. It is desirable to have some tri...

Expression in placement

It is nice that I can specify size of cube using expression [f(x)] and making it parametric. However it appears that placement can't be made parametric. There is no "f(x)" icon appear in x, y, and z boxes of placement.

Is there anyway to make placement parametrised?

Re: Reference of spreadsheet by Alias

This one in the pull-down menu Edit > Preferences: 20180525e.png Thank you Bejant. Another thing I noticed that, if we change label of spreadsheet, then in tree view, it is updated immediately, but on the tab (at bottom) of opened spreadsheet, it shows the same old label, till we close it and open ...

Re: Viewing direction of a line

Indeed, unlike autocad, rectangles in freecad are not polylines (you see that they keep their width and height parameters). A simple solution to convert a rectangle to a wire (polyline) is to Draft Downgrade it until it becomes a simple Part wire, then Draft Upgrade it to a Draft wire. Thank you fo...

this snippet allows you to know the beginning and the end of the line (or edge selected)
the text adapts with the boundBox of object (you must modify the value in "float(boundBoxDiag)/10.0")
Interesting!

Thank you.

Re: Viewing direction of a line

Yes, both Draft lines and Wires (which internally are the same object) can show a point or arrow at their endpoint, check the End Arrow property in View tab Thank you. I was expecting that rectangle drawn and line drawn will behave in same way. I am able to get end arrow, in case of line, but in ca...

You can find a basic BIM tutorial in the wiki page, made by Yorik.
https://freecadweb.org/wiki/Manual:BIM_modeling
Yorik has not given this URL, rather he used https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/BIM_Start_Tutorial

That imply he has something bigger in his mind.
