Bug Report: Assembly 2 - Import a part from another FreeCAD document

When trying to do this in a new document I get this error: importing part from C:/Users/Lenovo Yoga/3D Objects/disc.FCStd Running the Python command 'assembly2_importPart' failed: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Lenovo Yoga\AppData\Roaming\FreeCAD\Mod\assembly2\assembly2\importPart...

Re: Convert a draft to a face

While it was around two decades ago that I drew technical drawings, I'm sure the XYZ co-ordinate system hasn't changed. I know there are many people out there who know more about two dimensional structures than I, but you may be the first to know anything about one dimensional structures: "You shoul...

Re: Convert a draft to a face

Hi ChrisB, I started reading your tutorial on Freedcad, and I got to page five and read "Exercise 1 Create a diagonal line where none of the endpoints lies on the X or Y axis." when I thought "Now, I know the XYZ co-ordinate system is complicated to some people, but I'm pretty sure drawing a 1 dimen...

Re: Convert a draft to a face

OK, I'll check out your tutorials chrisb - but I can't see how you could do anything without grids nor proper co-ordinate inputs nor element modifications.

That looks great openBrain, did you do that in 10 minutes? Amazing, I'd love to now how you did it as I've been working on this for two days now.

Re: Convert a draft to a face

Hey chrisb, so basically the drafting mode is not good for 3D modelling?
I found Sketcher is also not good for modelling - but then, neither was the Parts Design.

So I'm unsure which method to use.

Re: Convert a draft to a face

Would love to know how all of that is done openBrain, since I can't seem to modify anything I draw in Sketcher - To me it's like real sketching: "close enough is good enough"

Re: Convert a draft to a face

Thanks bejant, I wonder why my lines weren't working? I'd hate to go through a complex shape and find out it couldn't be upgraded and had to redo each segment individually until it worked. I zoomed in and found that, despite me using CTRL snaps, the elements weren't joining up (I tried to measure th...

Re: Convert a draft to a face

Well I had a quick play again with Sketcher, and I have to zoom in (which is not easy) every time I want to place a point then zoom out (again, not easy) then try to zoom back in (ditto) to where I assume the next point will be because the dark blue text on a dark grey background is impossible to re...
