Re: How to do New Mechanical Analysis with python?

Invoking netgen by python and mesh a Part::Feature I don't know if it possible from python? You may try to have a look at /src/Mod/Fem/MechanicalAnalysis.py In the lines behind class _CommandNewMechanicalAnalysis: is defined what happend if you invoke a new MechanicalAnalysis and a Part::Feature is...

The wiki contains an example how to create a mesh "by hand" and other things.
Did you try that ?

Roland
Yes thanks, I've seen this, I want to mesh an existing shape, not create one by hand.

How to do New Mechanical Analysis with python?

Hello, I have compiled FreeCAD from Git, including netgen. I have found that I can create a FEM mesh of a shape by selecting it in the GUI and choosing New Mechanical Analysis. I am then brought to the dialog for selecting mesh parameters, and can generate a mesh, very nice! My question is, how can ...

Re: Using BOLTS from python script (or command line)

Hmm, without GUI there might be problems with the current code, as importing BOLTS also fires up the widget. But this could be refactored to work headless as well. What about doing from BOLTS import whatever where whatever is only the stuff I need, will this still trigger the widget? To answer my o...

Re: Using BOLTS from python script (or command line)

Thanks for all the replies! This happened a lot faster than I thought. In general what you have described is pretty much what I wanted, just a way to access easily, and by name, all the BOLTS parts in a python script. While assembiles are still under development I prefer to create all my shapes in a...

Using BOLTS from python script (or command line)

Hello, I like would like to use the BOLTS library ( http://www.bolts-library.org/en/index.html ) from a python script rather than the GUI. I would also prefer however, to get the actual shape for my own use in my script rather than adding the part to the document directly. It seems this will require...

Re: Interested in contributing to FEM

goals for me would include adding other mesher options such as gmsh watch out as gmsh has a somehow incompatible license (GPLv2) with FreeCAD. FreeCAD started using two licenses, GPLv2 and LGPL, but the target was to be LGPL, and I believe that in the current version it is, as described in the lice...

Re: Upgrade - Downgrade inconsistancy?

It gets complex, there are different things in FreeCAD I see, where this question is arising, is that I have created a shape using the python API (I wrote a Matlab based tool to generate a freecad script that builds a 2D shape I have created in my Matlab code), however I would then like the option ...
