Re: Where are drawing views placed when using Draft->Drawing

I tried setting X = -1000, Y = 20 (assuming they are distances from the top left page corner) but this doesn't work. oops, actually, I tried this, and it does work! Now I need to experiment with scale. so for anyone else, the X and Y are the distances, in the same units as your shape, from the top ...

Where are drawing views placed when using Draft->Drawing?

Hello, I'm interested in creating Drawings from my shapes. I understand that the Drawing functionality is a work in progress to an extent. Often when I put something in a Drawing (using Draft->Drawing), the view is placed off the drawing page (e.g. when the shape is placed at a large radius relative...

Re: PYTHONPATH ignored

are you sure nothing is added? No I take it back, the first syntax has in fact worked, I was obviously confusing myself somehow. The second (using $PYTHONPATH) does not, I assume (and will go test myself) that the syntax for adding multiple paths is just multiple paths separated by spaces? It would...

Re: PYTHONPATH ignored

I guess the simplest solution is to use the -P commandline switch to add additional to FreeCADs path on startup. Or you could extend the path manually by using import sys sys.path.append("...") but this would need to be redone every restart. Thanks, At the moment I have set up a a macro to add vari...

Re: Dimensions do not appear in drawing.

Sorry for not replying to this. The real issue was that the dimensions were appearing off the page, and I couldn't see them. I need to adjust the scale and position. In general it would be nice if you could still see things that aren't actually on the page so you can guess how to fix it, or what you...

PYTHONPATH ignored

Hi, I would like to be able to use my own modules in FreeCAD scripts. I also have places where I prefer to keep these, and I add these locations to my PYTHONPATH environment variable. $ python Python 2.7.6 (default, Mar 22 2014, 22:59:56) [GCC 4.8.2] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or ...

Re: Problem with dimension tool.

Hi crobar Something Mario said though, reminded be of another "newbie gotcha"....if you look at Draft snaps, you want to turn off the types you don't want and just turn on what you do want, I suspect you might have had "snap to working plane" or one of the other snap types, activated in such away a...

Re: Problem with dimension tool.

ok, I have attached a file containing the shape, I was unable to replicate the problem in a simpler shape. This file was created by copying and pasting the shape from a document with many other shapes in it. My default working plane is also 'none'. The problem with dimensions not showing up was unre...

Re: Problem with dimension tool.

Since both your post are about the same thing, I moved them to the same topic. Ahh, well, I see, in my view they were seperate issues, but I could be wrong (I actually somehow thought I'd moved the post myself by accident.) The problem looks like you have not set the "working plane" before each "no...

Dimensions do not appear in drawing. [SOLVED]

Hello, I'm following the very helpful video example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxNT0KychcY showing how to project dimensions onto a drawing. However I'm following the example, and when I get to the point of adding a group of dimensions to the drawing, when I click on the "Puts a selected ...
