Re: What about using GPU's to speed up matrix math?

Hello! I don't think FC would benefit much from GPUs in general (in terms of speedup of main workbenches). In some commercial CAD systems mainly rendering modules use GPU (for example Dassault Systemes bought recently hybrid render ("keyshot-brother") and now it is called SW Visualize). There are fe...

Re: new Thinkpad: which graphics card?

In FC, I think CPU and RAM play the most important role.

I have used FC on several machines and even on Intel Atom (one core and dual core) it worked fine. But of course it depends how sophisticated is part, how many features it have, how complex geometry.

Re: Plugin Loader

Good job, but I would divide macros and WBs into two groups. As yorik said, macros are (many times) simple scripts and they differ from WBs wchich are larger, more complicated (and have more data, "header", etc.). Your script should give possibility to have both up to date and download them automati...

Agree, this should be any edge or axis. I think this functionality is on "to do" list.

Re: Pie Menu

Perhaps an implementation could be set to also use this within the workbenches, say if I'm in sketcher and I summon the macro it will allow me to select tools within the WB, and if I enter another one, it may allow me to use the commands of that WB. +1 Yes, such context pop-up menu is good idea, an...

Re: Sketcher development - grand plans?

As I wrote here before Sketcher needs some more attention (as it is one of the most important WBs) and some polish. Sketcher have sometimes problems, sometimes "dramatic" - even with relatively not complicated geometry. Sketcher sometimes can freeze FreeCAD for seconds or even forever! Trim function...

Re: Postprocessing

So let me know what you think and if this is useful for you, than we can decide if it is worth to work longer on the integration of vtk. I don't know much about FEM and vtk. But when you say it's the de-facto standard in FEM then it probably makes sense to use it therefore. VTK library and ParaView...
