Re: Feature Request: Just for fun...

Currently such things go into this Open discussion forum, and I think that is sufficient. Open discussion is not too busy, so things don't get buried. Cool! (I thought that something like this could distract the objectives of "Open Discussion") Well, Just for fun.. I uploaded the video FreeCAD: Möb...

Feature Request: Just for fun...

Have you ever thought on adding to the index page a forum called "Just for fun" or something alike? This forum could include curiosities, challenges,... about FreeCAD or any related discipline. For example, a couple of months ago Kunda1 proposed a Challenge: Constant Velocity Joint (M. Gesik) , here...

Re: Feature request: Reduced Units.

Without making particular quotations, I will express my vision on the discussed point and on some of the mentioned details. In my opinion, one of the first things to do to decrease the number and intensity of ambiguities is to remember how to build a unit of measurement for any physical magnitude. (...

Re: Feature request: Reduced Units.

Portions ... the "secret" is in the proportions. :) By definition, taking a measurement is establishing a comparison between two commensurable physical quantities, one of which is normally called a unit of measurement. For example, we all know that if a person's height is, for example, 1.77 m, it is...

Re: Feature request: Reduced Units.

Wow @MSOlsen65 what an explanation! Congrats. While it does not work for everything... Are you sure? hahaha. ...Thus 0.75 inches is divided by itself to get the RM of 1, and as a result, the measurement indicators (inches) cancel out: 0.75 inches = 1. How about saying that 1RM = 0,75 inches? The har...

Re: Feature Request: Extend equality restriction in the sketcher.

But it isn't really interesting if it flips or not. It is interesting if it can flip, i.e. if it has a unique solution or not. Only then we can be absolutely sure that it does not flip. In your example giving any length can lead to ambiguities if not enough of the segments are fixed, i.e. you have ...

Re: Feature Request: Extend equality restriction in the sketcher.

I get the same 5mm as expected, and yes I recomputed, and I get this: now i'm wondering if i sent the correct version of the file ... What's the name of the file you are using for getting the above results? ...But I don't see in your image that that three of the four horizontal small lines (includi...
