Re: Creating a new part with linked to the external geometry geometry

Hooshim, The way to examine a model presented as an example, is to use the space bar to make invisible all features(greyed out in the model tree)... then use the space bar to make visible each feature in turn, this gives the viewer the ability to follow the workflow. As to creating the datum planes,...

Re: Draw hydroponics basket

Sometimes you have to think a little before you start to sketch.....

This model is not perfect or parametric but with a little malice afore-thought it could be!

Re: Creating a new part with linked to the external geometry geometry

Hi Hooshsim, I had a go at this, but it is not quite correct. The problem seems to be the B-Spline at the upper planar surface (curve B1,) which I had to approximate by eye. I have a feeling this can be modeled, perhaps with the aid of the curves WB. Any how, I used Part Cross-section to define A1,B...

Re: Using face from another body as reference breaks combo view.

OK, so if you follow the recommended workflow:- create body>create sketch>pad sketch, create new body001>create sketch>pad it (pad0001), select face of pad>create shapebinder, make invisible pad in body,(so it can't be selected) select shapebinder>create sketch>pocket sketch does it work as expected?

Re: Using face from another body as reference breaks combo view.

OK, I replicated your screen-cast, except my version auto-magically created a shape-binder of body>pad in body001, and pocket and sketch were visible. To be frank that is what you should be doing, when referencing geometry between bodies, see https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/PartDesign_Workbench#Cros...

Exactly, both up to face and to first work with no errors...
