Re: When selecting a face what is the message meaning

With the file you included there is no new sketch created, so close the dialogue ,switch to PartDesign and use the sketch tool to create your sketch.

Alternately, you can select the attachment method you prefer and the sketch will be created but outside the body.

Re: When selecting a face what is the message meaning

TopDown,

You have created the sketch in Sketcher WB, this will make the sketch outside of the body and therefore needs to be attached. When working in Part design use the sketch button on the toolbar, this will switch to Sketcher WB and keep the sketch inside the active body.

So I select the face and create a new sketch.
The sketch is linked to a face not another sketch.... when constructing sketch001 make pad invisible and sketch visible and use ext geom to link to the circle in sketch

Re: Subtract Loft in PartDesign (17)

Roland,

Works fine for me FC 0.18.....

Select sketch003 execute subtractive loft, then in the dialogue press 'add section' and in the 3D view select sketch002 press ok, and all is well.

Re: Absolute beginners problem

Heki, You need to create a pocket from the rectangular sketch, this can be achieved in two ways, you can leave the sketch where it is (assuming you made it on the XY plane) and tick the reversed radio button in the pocket dialogue, this will remove the material above the sketch. Or you can position ...

Re: Part Design Buttons Grayed

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you have made the sketch in the sketcher WB, you need to create a body and place the sketch inside it to continue.

For the future you should just use the sketcher tool in the PDN WB it will auto-magically create a body for you.

Re: How to mirror a body with fillets, chamfers etc.?

Use part mirror, part design cannot mirror a whole solid, only features. See limitations in the wiki. https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/PartDesign_Mirrored Also see the PartDesign Body documentation page, under Interaction with other workbenches. You will need to mirror the body rather than the last f...
