In my fealing it must go more easy. hen you can make a sketch on 45 degrees it is just make this sketch and circular pattern around the z axis and ready. You have select the dots/ points first then add a dimension.
Indeed lines will not work (That's a pity!)

It works except for the zoom function that works way to fast. also have the ratation and the zooming sometimes interaction.
Better way to zoom is two fingers up down like scrolling.

it is more easy to do everything in part edit/ Part workbench
3D drawing it is a different kind of approach than acad is.
