Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

I guess there is no real disadvantage from moving to 1.x. and if there are some advantages for some people I think we should simple do it. I changed my mind and gave a thumps up here.https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/pull/2048 In the end 1.0 is also only a development-cycle with the final goal 1.x...

Re: [New Tool request] : Features Recognizer for imported body (step/igs etc...)

a good new feature is the ability to recognize features in an imported body (step/iges) so you manage it as freecad model. The new tool should scan the imported geometry and recognize the producing features with respective sketches what do you think? This is a reverse engineering ... a link to what...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

The problem with this is that you are thinking very narrowly. You are calling it API stable just because the Part Workbench is stable? Hey man, who is thinking very narrow? You are thinking I was referring only to Part Workbench only because I said that the only issue I had is PartWB related? :o We...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

2) Does FreeCAD have a stable API? It can be locked at anytime to make this true, but will this hinder development. All the devs are extremely aware of stability in APIs... even if there are a lot of new APIs, the old functions are not touched... Improvement doesn't mean instability. I started to d...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

[*]FreeCAD is used to build complex and reliable models (Mechanics and Architectural Design) This is false This is your opinion... FreeCAD is used to build complex and reliable models is a fact, even if there were the transition from 0.16,0.17 and 0.18 approach. Maybe it would have made sense to ca...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

I didn't want to post here because of the title, but it seems the discussion is hot here... So here my crossposting: ( Discussion: FreeCAD is ready for (deserves) 1.0 ) This is why I would suggest to use 1.0 for next stable relase (the now 0.19 development) FreeCAD is used in a professional environm...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is ready for 1.0

1.0 is no certificate, nor does it assure the presence of any features. Of course there are people - and always will be - who absolutely cannot use FreeCAD for some missing feature or other reason. Today I tried to prepare my breakfast with FreeCAD and it miserably failed, if anyone can confirm I m...
