Vertical Feed rates in partially-vertical cuts

This behavior surprised me a little, so I thought it may be up for discussion. I feel like feed rate should consider both vertical and horizontal rates when making a move that's a ramp. Currently I see that the G-code generated picks one or the other feed rate rigidly. A simplified example situation...

Re: Diffing through .fcstd files

I did some digging in the source. It looks like stuff in Document.xml is ordered alphabetically, but GuiDocument.xml is where the problem is. I can now see that in my results as well. The culprit in the source at FreeCAD/src/Gui/Document.cpp: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/blob/99a2fd16f47f11c1e...

What are you using?
I use bCNC too. Our posts crossed; see my last post.

Re: Can't edit TagDressup

It looks like there may still be some lingering issues. I can't get the auto Generate to work. When I press the "Replace All" button I get two different results on two designs. One: nothing. Other: apparently nothing, but if OK and re-enter the dialog, I get the auto-generated tags. I have a design ...

Re: PathShape is not member of Job Operations (bug?)

More details about GRBL limitations:
https://github.com/gnea/grbl/wiki#limitations-by-design

I use bCNC to feed GRBL. I see some evidence that bCNC supposedly translates G8x codes, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'll try again with the latest and pose the question to bCNC developer.

I use Drilling ops with the standard grbl post processor all the time - what's the problem you run into?
The GRBL post processor lets drill cycles (Last was G83) go through. GRBL doesn't understand drill cycles.

Re: PathShape is not member of Job Operations (bug?)

I came across this because I was looking for a way to make a finishing pass for a helix drill. I hit the same dead-end as @Gauthier. I'll attach a simplified part/path showing the type of finish pass I had envisioned. Since it appears PathShape is not a usable thing, is there a better way to make su...

Re: Diffing through .fcstd files

Hi, Thanks. I noticed FCstd info script, but I didn't feel it had enough detail. I'm not interested in merging based on the text files alone; that sounds very ambitious. I'm interested in being able to get a second view of changes. I also undertand in many cases a typical "diff" will generate too mu...

Re: Diffing through .fcstd files

I came across this thread after setting up git diff textconv etc. First thing I tested is Open a file, save it unchanged, do the "git diff". In this case, there are too many changes to be useful. I'm guessing this is because the FreeCAD internals don't care about order of things in the FCStd files. ...

What do you use for a g-code loader?
I use bCNC too (on macOS 0.9.9 March 24, 2017).
I haven't looked into enough bCNC settings; may be it has filter/translate capabilities.
