Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

It seems like the travis changes are more-or-less independent of the Mac application bundle work, so is there any reason we couldn't merge in the application packaging stuff to master? If we did that, I think it would be reasonable to make a one-off Mac build from the same git commit as the other p...

Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

Guys, shouldn't these changes the OSX pre-release build is based on be merged to master before the upcoming 0.16 release? It's only after I found this topic that I understood the discrepancy in version numbering. http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14527&p=116542#p116519 That is the ob...

Add support for matplotlib 1.5.x or greater - #2421

Matplotlib changed their API slightly from version 1.4.x to 1.5.x, released this past October and are actively developing 2.0. The support by package managers across platforms varies significantly. For example, apt offers matplotlib 1.3.1 on common Unbuntu variants while home-brew supports 1.5.1 on ...

Re: Development conventions - API compliance?

Thanks Ian... With the rich cMake infrastructure FreeCAD implemented, I had planned to pursue option 1 to minimize the opportunity for source-code cruft longer-term however after having implemented option 1 and verified on OS X, during regression on Ubuntu, I discovered that package managers on Linu...

Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

We just released a new build from the Travis CI server that incorporates the following changes: Ian and Peter's changes to provide support for the 3DConnexion mice A patch from Peter that properly sets the python module dependencies in accordance with home-brew recommendations. This improves the int...

Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

Please confirm the 3DConnexion support when you have a chance, weather permitting Yes, the 3D mouse does appear to work in that build, though there are some other problems with the build that I haven't investigated (creating the default cube in Part Design seems to just make vertex or cube that's v...

Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

Got the 3Dconnexion thing mostly figured out, will need to do some research tomorrow on how best to fix it. The issue is that MakeMacBundleRelocatable.py is setting the wrong rpath to look for the 3Dconnexion Framework in the binaries that make up FreeCAD. -Ian- Good find, Ian! Peter and Ian, a new...

Development conventions - API compliance?

FreeCAD developers, What is the preferred mechanism or accepted convention for handling version-specific API variances in FreeCAD? For example, matplotlib 1.5.x changed the NavigationToolbar2QT egg slightly from version 1.4.x: from 1.4.x from matplotlib.backends.backend_qt4agg import NavigationToolb...

Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

Good find, Ian! I totally was not thinking of that. I simply excluded the framework from being brought into the bundle and it seemed to work fine with the spacenav I use at work. The 3dconnexion framework is weak linked, so I think that means it won't cause problems for people who don't have the dr...

Re: Mac pre-release download way behind Windows version

IIRC the drivers and SDK come in the same package for Mac. The file I downloaded most recently (I think for looking at this issue a few weeks back) is called "3DxWareMac_v10-2-4_r2077.dmg". I got them from the downloads section of the 3Dconnexion site. Need to run off to work now. -Ian- FYI, we're ...
