Re: How I can test assembly module?

Maybe just one more thought about external components. Yes, why not. "Linking" could be maintained and component could be updated and integrity of project file could be maintained if "current snapshot" of external component would be imported in project file. Two things would happen: 1.) External dep...

Re: How I can test assembly module?

Some more ideas just for thinking about them. I don't like the idea of having "two modes", this will confuse users and add unnecessary complexity? Could we have only one mode and user could do both things in it? User could assemble different part (files) together or assemble models in one part file....

Re: How I can test assembly module?

I'm not quite sure I understand your point!? Maybe i am wrong because i don't have enough insight on the topic but i do see distinction between: 1.) Part file: contains all the information about one or more parts/models saved into one file. 2.) Assembly file: contains only information how you "glue...

Re: How I can test assembly module?

but won't all of the sub-assemblies also be FCAssm files? Shouldn't there be a distinction for the user. One (big) distinction i can think of is assembly (file) 1 = part (file) 1 + part (file ) 2 + part (file) 3 ... 1.) If u assemble more than one model with constraints and save it to part file you...

Re: How I can test assembly module?

Great! I will just mention ownCloud has WebDAV support and in the future there will be other possibilities for syncing files too. Other features that are available right now like calendar, contacts, users & groups... i guess they could come in handy for FreeCAD too? There is some kind of versioning ...

Re: How I can test assembly module?

IMO open source is not doomed to follow the path of some commercial players which gather always more functions till the points of the end of usability. I couldn't agree more. What about using some open source web server with HTML interface or even better something like http://owncloud.org/ with mod...

Re: How I can test assembly module?

There will be both possibilities, several parts per file or one part per file.
Fantastic!

Re: Editable texts in SVG templates

Hi triplus, How about sharing your template (if you don't mind)? :) The Drawing Templates wiki page could use some A4 templates! ;) (and some A and B too for people in North America, but I'm slowly working on it!) My drawing templates are very specific and because of that i made two more simple/gen...

Re: Editable texts in SVG templates

Hmm interesting... It looks like proper XML rules ask that when you use a prefix, you define it first: http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_namespaces.asp Indeed inkscape defines its inkscape: prefix, at the beginning of inkscape-generated files, there is: <svg xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1...

Re: Editable texts in SVG templates

- in your SVG templates, add freecad:editable="TextName" attributes to <text> entities, to mark them as editable
I did noticed one thing.
"XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace"
FireFox seems to be very strict it does not show SVG image and complains.
