Re: How do I get rid of this bounding box

As stated by mlampert, the new bounding box is a bit annoying. For me it provides no value. There is also a small box that shows up when any tool is selected. Again, I have no idea why that might be useful. I am puzzled about what issues the new bounding box was supposed to solve. I have never had a...

Drilling Bug

I have been struggling with the new drilling function for a couple of days, and I think I have uncovered a small bug. I have a simple block with 42 identical holes to be drilled into the top surface. No matter how I changed the hole size or the tool, 4 of the 42 holes simply refused to be selected. ...

Re: Improvements to Tool Handling (and other fixes) #628

@GeneFC: From a systematic view I would recommend to create multiple jobs, but from a usibility view I can understand quite well, that you don't want to create as many jobs as you have tool changes. As I noted above, there are numerous ways to deal with this subject. So it is not really a big deal ...

Re: Improvements to Tool Handling (and other fixes) #628

Sliptonic, Thanks for the detailed reply. Yes, I certainly want the overall process to be universal for all (or at least most) users. As I noted, I do not have any problem creating what I need. I often add supplemental structures or delete design features as needed to assist the path generation proc...

Re: Improvements to Tool Handling (and other fixes) #628

I have been testing the improvements, and they appear to work correctly. They definitely clean up a couple of quirks in the tool handling. I have discovered one "improvement" that creates a bit of difficulty for me. In particular, the post processor operation appears to always process the entire job...

Re: Improvements to Tool Handling (and other fixes) #628

This is an extensive list, and it looks good (without actually trying anything.) The only comment I have is that "Drilling now automatically detects all drillable locations in the base object and adds them " may be a bit of overkill. I often have multiple sizes of holes, and I do not want to automat...

Re: Trying to pad a sketch drawn in a hole

Jim,

Adding to what chrisb said, the construction state is indicated by all of the drawing icons in the toolbar turning blue. Once you understand that behavior, it becomes obvious when you are in full-time construction mode.

Re: Trying to pad a sketch drawn in a hole

Jim, The problem in the latest file you posted is very simple. You left the circle in Sketch004 as construction geometry (blue) instead of ordinary geometry. Select the circle in the sketch, toggle the construction geometry icon, the circle turns green, and you can now pad the sketch without difficu...

Re: Trying to pad a sketch drawn in a hole

As you can see, Willem's suggestion of going through the motions of detaching the sketch also worked. Yes, I tried his suggestion, and it does indeed work. However, it does so by creating an independent solid, which is a concept not supported by PartDesign. The end result looks OK at this stage, bu...
