Re: Difficulty with full depth pockets...

Your path comes out wrong on my mainstream system as well, but a recompute really does fix it: Markering_020.png However, I fail to understand why recomputing would be an acceptable process? On a complex part, little errors like this may well pass unnoticed and you only find them when you try to ass...

Ramp entry (helix) too steep

The ramp entry dressup is a fantastic feature, but it looks like it dives into the material too steeply: Markering_019.png This is an oval, but circles are the same. The first level is reached in just 1/2 lap (counting from material contact), the others in a full lap. Do you agree this is an imperfe...

Re: Difficulty with full depth pockets...

I have seen the same thing. Unfortunately, it resolved itself and, embarrassingly, I don't know what I did...

Is this common for CNC machines?
I am using LinuxCNC with a "remapped" tool change command that probes the tool length and sets its offset as part of the change command. I think most people just do this manually instead. So for LCNC, that would mean setting the offset there.

Re: Tool-Library: Cutting Edge Angle

"Cutting Edge Angle" is totally confusing - just watch the debate here! "Point/tip angle" is much more intuitive, although it still lends itself to be understood as zero being flat. Maybe that can be managed? Also, I feel we should remember what we learned in elementary school about what words shoul...

Re: Operation Suggestion

I typically create a helper object. In this case a slab with the large center pole would do. Then you can use either a pocket or facing operation, I think. Then finish the center with a profile operation around the pole for smoothness. The way the facing and pocket operations work today, they requir...

So if the tags are configured to have 90deg angle on them, the downward movements will turn into ramps.
Perfect in my thinking - no more need to angle the tags! That will keep them as narrow and strong as possible. :D

Re: Vertical Feed rates in partially-vertical cuts

For example, if there are Tags added with another dressup, the ramps on the tags will get the same ramp feedrate as well. I suppose that is not too much of a problem? I was thinking about this, too, and I think it might actually be an issue. Typical ramps and helixes are in the order of 5-10 deg st...
