Re: Bug #2590: FreeCAD (0.17 Daily) crashes on exporting imported STEP as WebGL

Oh, we can export to WebGL? awesome! will try to build latest from git and try. UPDATE: Tested on my current build and it crashes, it works if you export to stl, import and then export to WebGL. I have posted the resulting html file in the issue/ticket above. This is a build from last week, but i gu...

Re: URDF Workbench, robotics

I have managed to load exported a SDF with two links in Gazebo. Each body becomes a link. Its still very rough and the .stl export is not included yet. But you can follow the progress here: https://github.com/maidenone/RobotCreator There is not much to see yet and its not yet ready for testing. Also...

Re: URDF Workbench, robotics

Gazebo/SDF wants the models to have its model origo at the center of mass. This was just me getting my center of inertia at origo while the model had its origo at a random position (not center off mass or a corner). I am not looking for a "perfect solution" i am only looking for an easy/fast way to...

I vote for keeping it on the forum, it will be way more interactive that way ;)

Re: URDF Workbench, robotics

And its time for a restart! I was following this the other day: http://gazebosim.org/tutorials?cat=guided_i&tut=guided_i2 Look they are using FreeCAD! There are only two issues: Gazebo/SDF wants the models to have its model origo at the center of mass. Gazebo/SDF uses meters, not millimeters.. so ma...

Re: Springs and Plastic Deformation

Made a small video showing my workflow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3_wUxaHBM8 In the contact constraint, does it matter what face you select as master and what you select as slave? Is there some way to import and use a .STL file? i tried to use the "mesh to shape" function in part design and t...

Re: Springs and Plastic Deformation

Finer mesh: Check. Contact points: Check. Plot linearized stress: Fail. When i try to set up a clip filter along a line, i select two points and get: Coin warning in SbVec3f::setValue(): The double precision vector will not fit into a single precision vector. *** Abort *** an exception was raised, b...

Re: Springs and Plastic Deformation

Awesome! This is very much a work in (early) progress. All files available on: https://github.com/maidenone/OpenBiped its dependent on my solidpython fork (generates scad files and BOM with total cost and print time) https://github.com/maidenone/SolidPython I have a freecad design of the same spring...

Springs and Plastic Deformation

I am trying to make a script to auto-generate 3d printable "springs/dampener" that can handle a given load. It was a few years since i studied material physics.. so now i would appreciate some input on how i can calculate or see when or where the part should "brake" or become permanently deformed? A...
