Fooling around with FreeCAD Source and OCC

This thread will be a place where i dump information about things i find while looking at open cascade visualization and how 3d views are currently rendered. Initially I played around a bit with QT/open cascade visualization. I have created this fork of a OCC/QT project to be used as a sandbox: http...

Re: Coin3D - FreeCAD Delegation to help move Coin3D forward

I have just looked through https://dev.opencascade.org/doc/overview/html/occt_user_guides__visualization.html Will play around with it a bit tonight and then look at how it could replace coin3d in FreeCAD. (I am not saying that it ever will) The output of this project will be greater knowledge of OC...

Re: name FreeCAD 0.91 instead of 0.20, means version after 0.19 could be 0.91

Unfortunataly that is not enough to drive the development of a CAD product that aims to be considered at "production-level". FreeCAD is not a product. Rather think of it like a house of cards built by a collective of hippies where each card forfills a developers needs. In many ways this house of ca...

Re: name FreeCAD 0.91 instead of 0.20, means version after 0.19 could be 0.91

As a PM i say: FreeCAD is more a process then project, using version numbers to indicate completeness or usability is moot.. Using date-patch will give the enduser a better understanding of how "new" their software is. if i sit down with epicsoft 2010-10-p12, then that might give me an indication th...

Re: Assembly3 preview

"let's make it simple. Then we can improve things from there. Some people would have to swallow their pride: tough, that's life" This have nothing with pride to do, this is a big decision with big impact on the project, this will potentially cause additional work for a lot of developers in the near...

Re: Assembly3 preview

FreeCAD 0.19 development cycle has started and it would be great if you could prepare a core App::Link relater PR. And lets try to make FreeCAD 0.19 Link enabled. Link functionality, selection working, partial loading, this should i guess be a solid base, to get things started. topo naming? STEP im...

Re: PVS-Studio

The code is correct. This function expects as second parameter a Part::GeomArcOfHyperbola. I think it is detecting that a variable named geom2 is being passed to a parameter named geom1 and viceversa. That sounds like an code quality issue, can probably be a bit confusing for current/future develop...

Re: physics stimulation

I'm not a physics guy, but I enjoy pretending to be one from time-to-time ;) we are on the same level ;) its probably possible to achive the same results with pybullet: https://github.com/bulletphysics/bullet3/issues/1926 I had a discussion about physics simulation with realthunder in one of the as...
