Re: cfMesh install problem

I have a feeling you are using the CFD workbench and not CfdOF. I had not realised that it shares the same preference page, but it is an earlier version which loads the standard cfMesh version. Almost all of the material on this forum relates to CfdOF, but we should really change the title so that ...

Re: cfMesh install problem

I was for sure using the installer in the preferences. After I read theschrader's comment I decided to give downloading and installing cfMesh-CfdOF manually a try, which actually worked (I didn't know I could get it from sourceforge). It took a little fiddling to get to work as I'm not super familia...

Re: cfMesh install problem

Gladly, thanks for the help. It seemed I had to delete the files in the directory for the changes to take effect. It failed to install and this is the output log file: wmake libso meshLibrary wmakeLnInclude: linking include files to ./lnInclude Making dependency list for source file workflowControls...

cfMesh install problem

I'm having trouble installing cfMesh through the Preferences > CFD dialogue. I see others have been having trouble but none, as far as I can tell, match the problem I'm having. I installed OpenFoam5 and this is the only dependency left before I can get CFD to work. I have pasted in the contents of t...

Re: Is 30 second compute times normal for more complex models?

Right clicking on the document item in the tree view. There are some options to control the recompute routine. Maybe you will be able to incorporate that into your design procedure. To for example change more parameters and after do a recompute. Effectively reducing the time needed to get the job d...

Re: Is 30 second compute times normal for more complex models?

ppemawm, I'm envious.

Currently the file resides around 10MB. I'm running v0.17.13528 with about 8 gigs of ram, though I rarely approach max and often close applications to give myself more headroom if I'm worried about getting low.

Thanks for the input, are you running on WIndows?

Re: Is 30 second compute times normal for more complex models?

Thanks for the reply freedman. I chose a demanding operation at the base of the feature and this is the results: original was set to 0.5% which gave me 40 second compute time Set it to 2% and restarted FreeCAD and it ended up being about 35 seconds Set it to 1% and it was about 40 seconds. 8% 35 sec...

Is 30 second compute times normal for more complex models?

I love FreeCAD and it has been super helpful for years now. One thing I have been wondering about is if I'm getting poor performance or if something is wrong across the couple machines I've been running it on or that I've been doing things wrong. It's been worse since I've started making more comple...

Re: Part Design WB, using one sketch for multiple sweeps and features

I thought the behaviour reusing the sketch didn't work well last time I used it, might have been 0.17, but I tried it last night with it and it so far has worked pretty well. No errors or problems so far, and it does appear under multiple features rather than in only one (thus getting 'lost' in one ...

Re: Part Design WB, using one sketch for multiple sweeps and features

I am using the right tool and there is no popup because there are no linked objects. I get what you were saying. I'll work on the spreasheet method if reusing it doesn't work the way I expect.
