Re: Broke my filliter??

As you have done with the sphere you can do with an ellipsoid. Create a sketch with half of an ellipse and continue as before.
That is exactly what I wanted to do....

Um.... How exactly does one make half an ellipsoid? I couldn’t get it to delete the bits I didn't want...

Re: Broke my filliter??

Ok attempt 3 went heaps better now I have an equal number of faces :D. The computer liked it more too, less processor drain and no freecad crashes this time :D Getting faster too. Only took me about 5 min to do the main body of the attached file. I can also change the sweep sketches and alter the fi...

Re: Broke my filliter??

Not a circle made of 4 arcs. A square with filleted corners. The line length left is only 0.01mm. Goal is to have the same number of segments between both sketches. Otherwise you don't get a proper sweep. Ohhh Thats why I couldn’t get a flat face there.... facepalm. I was looking at the downloaded ...

Re: Broke my filliter??

OK I think I have the hang of the Part Sweep tool Attached is the latest version lure. Its a lot closer to what my friend wants (ultimately he wants a few sizes and shapes etc). A lot of the filleted bits in the first version where not strictly necessary. I just didn't know how to do it another way....

Re: Broke my filliter??

Ohhhh Worked it out. Offset sketch :) I got the tapered part. Now I just need to box out the back half :)| Give me another few min... I'll work it out shortly (scrolls down on this page and looks at gif again) Oh I see. Thats what that pocket is for .lol. Ok I'll try that and see what I get with my ...

Re: Broke my filliter??

Trying to muddle my way through the part sweep by copying Normans file.

Cant seem to get the circle (made from 4 arcs that’s a neat trick took me a moment to see whats going on there) to go on the end of the sweep direction line.

Am I doing my sketches in the wrong order?

Re: Broke my filliter??

I recommend that you apply the fillets to your design as late as possible, in other words when no other feature is needed. In general it is a bad idea to construct sketches over Part or PartDesign fillet features because it makes the model more fragile to changes. In 0.16, when a fillet fails after...

Broke my filliter??

HI everyone. This is my first post here. Been lurking and FreeCADing for a while. So far managed not to break stuff. I'm still a n00bly beginner though. I seem to have broken my fillet and chamfer tools?? I made some fishing lures to 3d print. Starting with a rectangle then pocketing it to get a tap...
