Please read and follow the posting rules as set out in the link in the ^^BIG PINK BANNER^^ at the top of the page. If you don't have this info how did you model the gears in the first place? How (which WB) did you model them? For more help include a file (minimal example eg. one gear) Regards Steve.

Yes, make your preferred attachment mode and then use an offset.

Remember that offsets are in the local (Sketches LCS) orientation.

Exactly, select the tool and then select the edge. (following the advice from the Markster)

Once you have the sketch inside the Body, you may use the external geometry tool Image

Or you can use attachment see Basic_Attachment_Tutorial

No matter how I try I cannot form a loft that only contains a single sketch......
