Re: 2D-meshing in cfd

Thank you, it works with gmsh but no boundary layers are avalaible with gmsh. Only refinement on surfaces but I don't see any change in the mesh when I use or not these feature. Now I want to try to calculate the lift and drag force acting on a surface ... Seems difficult, I start with your post on ...

Re: Post processing tools

Thank you thschrader, Ok I have test it, is a simple and good solution for incompressible flow. I try to compute a compressible flow case but I have some error. Is the volumic mass data available in Paraview for compressible mass flows calculation? https://reho.st/self/6fdeab5974a08cc778f18800ef0312...

Re: 2D-meshing in cfd

Hello,

I add the bounding planes parrallel but I have always the error message telling that I am not using them.
Something to activate somewhere?

Post processing tools

Hello,

Is there any macros or patches to calculate for example the mass flow rate ?
How do you proceed ?

Sorry but i have very few experience with openfoam

Re: Heat transfer simulation with cfdOF

Thank you for your answer, It is planned to add solid parts for heat exchange also ? If yes good news. What is an approximative time schedule ?6 months 1year or more? I have a second question. Is it possible to add post process functionnalities to compute the flow rate, etc ? It seems tricky to calc...

Heat transfer simulation with cfdOF

Hello,

Is there a future heat transfer solver in cfdof? I mean a possibility to calculate heat transfer coefficient between liquid and solid.
I think Openfoam can handle this very well.

Elmer solver of FEM FreeCAD can do that but it is very limited for 3D turbulent fluid cases.

Re: Elmer Integration (GSoC) - Activity Log

Hello, Ok now it works, my Elmer installation was wrong. I can reproduce the beam in using the direct solver of Elmer. I try a simple 3D fluid flow curve pipe test. I am a little bit lost with the Elmer BC. For the inlet I define a velocity in the way of the flow no prblem. For the walls I force a 0...

Re: Elmer Integration (GSoC) - Activity Log

I have the version 0.17 of FreeCAD , 2 weeks ago installed.
I have the same error when computing the work bench FEM 3D beam example (I change the mesh to gmsh before computing)

Best regards

Re: Elmer Integration (GSoC) - Activity Log

Thank you Bernd, My next problem is that Elmer cannot find the material that I have assigned for the body. "ERROR:: InitializeElementDescriptions: elements.def not found" I ran a simple elasticity calculation. It works with Calculix but not with Elmer. I have add the body selection in the ...
