Re: Discussion: State of the snap (Snap Packaging)
An alternative, based on the PPA and without compiling all those external dependencies: https://github.com/ppd/FreeCAD/tree/snap-ppa/snap To me it looks good for now, hence if you will go ahead an make a PR, adding snapcraft.yaml, that likely shouldn't represent any big problems. The decisions, reg...

Re: How to create own GUI?
How would you go about to create a minimalist version of FreeCAD with an own GUI? If we are talking about the easiest and simplest way, select Complete WB in workbench selector and use: https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Customize_Toolbars To define some toolbars. Such approach should result in having a m...

Re: LAWS OF UX
The problem with such thread is what exactly is the purpose of it? Is there something wrong with the FreeCAD UX? If yes, what exactly? And how would following "LAWS OF UX" improve the situation? Don't expect to drop a couple of links and not to be prepared, before doing that, to at least s...

Re: AppImage - Include auto-updating logic in to appimage directly?
Hi @looo I see you have solved the "adding to the interface" part already, by adding the dialog to the Preferences. For now i feel that is the most elegant solution. Around June you should be able to add an entry to the Accessories menu in some straightforward fashion. Most of my free time...

Re: IconThemes
Note that i have just merged both documentation contributions from @Kunda1 and @st_phan. Nice job and it is shaping up nicely already: https://github.com/triplus/IconThemes Basically yes, good call. First maturing the documentation on IconThemes repository location, that makes the most sense. After ...

Re: Discussion: State of the snap (Snap Packaging)
Hi @ppd If i look at your proposed snapcraft.yaml file it in general looks good to me. The one thing that i slightly worry about is building all the (heavy) dependencies. As that likely takes a very long time? For stable builds that likely makes sense. As for more frequent builds, if we would have w...

Re: AppImage not containg lxml or xml
As @Syres mentioned @sgrogan added lxml two days ago (FreeCAD 0.19 all platforms). It looks like yesterday a deployment hiccup prevented the AppImage to deploy successfully. I manually restarted the build job just now and that got fixed: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/releases/tag/0.19_pre impor...

Re: IconThemes
Hi @st_phan Good to see you figured it out. As for the documentation. It would be really great if you would help out with that. ATM i am not sure, on where it makes the most sense, to start writing it. Therefore just use whatever suits you the most. Ultimately i guess FreeCAD Wiki and/or FreeCAD ico...
