Re: URDF Workbench, robotics
@menrise Thank you for the link to Phobos, I have not seen the project before, will see if i can find some inspiration from it. It will probably take months if not years for me to build something usable for URDF/SDF import/export. I have a full time job, a bunch of kids, a well paying part time job ...

Re: URDF Workbench, robotics
I am back, I am going to bring this project back to life in the near future. First off i will handle the pull requests and make sure what little functionality that are in place still works with newer versions of FreeCAD and ROS.

Compsognathus
I am teaching my 8 year old son some basic programming, mechanics and electronics, to make a "fun" project, we decided to build a 1:1 Compsognathus. Progress is a bit slow as both my son and me must be "in the mood" at the same time. The main goal here is to teach my son some goo...

Re: Gitpod, Online IDE, now opensource, provides pre-conf linux VM
I was more into the selfhosting on own hardware, that is unlimited. https://www.gitpod.io/docs/self-hosted/latest/install/install-on-kubernetes/ I am planning to buy a new PC for robotics simulation, thinking AMD 12 core / 24 thread and 32-64 GB RAM. I might donate some CPU time to the project ;) I ...

Gitpod, Online IDE, now opensource, provides pre-conf linux VM
Take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D41zSHJthZI https://www.gitpod.io/ https://www.gitpod.io/blog/opensource/ I think that if we can set it up properly, it can make development easier, especially new developers that want to try it out. I have not looked to deep yet, not sure how to ...

Re: How many man hours would FreeCAD need to reach feature parity with SolidWorks/SolidEdge?
First off, great post Abdullah! you got my vote for FreeCAD president ;) It would be good if active developers started a "pro support" spinoff company that is easier for companies to interact with, Like Seth & Wayne did for KiCAD with https://www.kipro-pcb.com/ , this removes some of t...
