Re: BIM in Australia

A lot of Natspec is aligned to IFC and IFC-based standards like COBie, so in short if you're doing valid IFC, you're going to be fine in Australia :)

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

Welcome back from holiday bernd! Indeed I would be interested in bolts more than the spreadsheet feature since I plan to implement this in IFC.

Would it be possible to schedule a call?

Re: Integration of BlenderBIM Feaures : FreeCAD Arch/BIM

Can you run the command manually:

/snap/freecad/375/bin/python3 -m pip install -v --disable-pip-version-check --target /home/beast/snap/freecad/common/AdditionalPythonPackages ifcopenshell

... and let me know what the output is? Note I added a `-v` verbose flag.

This may help for those missing ifcopenshell: https://blenderbim.org/docs-python/ifco ... ation.html

To test multicore, do import multiprocessing then multiprocessing.cpu_count()

An update that IfcOpenShell is now available on Pip and Conda and also has clear instructions for manual installation. https://blenderbim.org/docs-python/ifco ... ation.html

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

@bernd can we perhaps organise a voice call when you're back from vacation to see how this may or may not work? I'm in the Sydney timezone.

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

Awesome! Yes I understand BOLTS seems primarily for standardised technical specs, but I wonder if the scope could be extended to include not just design codes but supplier catalogues. For example in Australia there is Caroma which supplies a lot of sanitary fixtures and is a pretty good "goto&q...

BOLTS for architectural components?

This discussion came up on OSArch: https://community.osarch.org/discussion/1192/ifctype-furnishing-set-for-plan just wondering if others think it makes sense to include architectural components in BOLTS? Things like standard bed sizes, basic table sizes, sanitary fixtures, etc. There is a lot I stil...

Re: Integration of BlenderBIM Feaures : FreeCAD Arch/BIM

I'd recommend following what the BlenderBIM Add-on, which allows the user to filter which elements they want to load (with native IFC, it is no longer necessary to load everything, since you can lazy load), but by default it'll load all IfcSpatialElements, IfcElements, IfcElementTypes (plus IfcDoorS...
