I would say yes, but that's perhaps because I don't use the grid at all.

Note: it will only work if the faces creating the seam lines are co-planer.

The sketch as shown won't Pad/Pocket/etc. because it has T intersections and crossing lines.

It looks like it should use the Feature Pattern tools rather than repeating things in a single sketch.

As for the circle, it will be less fuss to use a separate sketch and Pocket.
