If I'm not mistaken with the concept of VisualStudio it should be possible to migrate single classes. It would be at least an interesting experiment.
I would rather recommend to use C# as the more modern language with cleaner concepts (although I like the higher level concept of arrays in VB).

Not sure about it, but I'm afraid that SheetMetal can handle only flat faces with circular arc shaped bends along straight lines.

In another thread we just found that it can be essential to attach the profile to the path. At least the MacOS version doesn't work properly if this attachment is missing, even if they are aligned properly.
