Re: The FreeCAD manual
Thanks for the proposal. I would phrase things differently: why was the content ported over to the Twiki? I have reread the thread and it seems this might have been because you wanted contributions/improvements. Does github prevent that? I think there should be only one place where the guide is host...

Re: Trimex does not work (extrusion error) but no error message
Hi Willem, Thanks for the tip. Correctly setting the workplane was the issue here. When I set it to be a normal to the shape/face, I could visually see the extrusion and it worked fine. Thanks! Do you know if there is an error message at all and where to find it in my case? Also, this looks like a u...

Re: Having a hard time with snapping tools
Hi Yorik, Thanks for the feeback. Changing the preference to 3 digits after the decimal point indeed allowed me to enter the 0.005 value without an issue. Thanks! Do you want me to file a bug on the tracker about this, mentioning the info you added in your post for easier later retrieval? In the mea...

Trimex does not work (extrusion error) but no error message
Hello again, I am further in the FreeCAD manual, still doing 2D drafting . I am at the point where I am requested to use to Trimex tool to extrude the 2d shapes drawn ("The most important thing about the Draft Workbench, however, is that the geometry you create with it can be used as a base or ...

Re: Having a hard time with snapping tools
Hi Willem, Thanks for the suggestion. It took me a while to get sth out of it since this is about defining your own patterns (which I am not doing) but yorik's last post gave me an idea about going via the Python console. I found out that it is the UI which is preventing me from entering the 0.005 p...

Re: The FreeCAD manual
Hi there,
I second what Enrico said, I think it would be useful to have a small description on how best to contribute updates to the manual (wiki edits, PR on gitbook, etc).

Re: Having a hard time with snapping tools
Hi there, Thank you so much for all your replies and your help, this is great! @cox: the 'make face' was indeed the root cause of the problem, with the whole rectangle being selected/lighting up when I tried to do the snapping. Disabling the 'make face' setting allowed for a much easier snapping (I ...

[SOLVED] Having a hard time with snapping tools
Hi everyone, Thanks for the good tool that FreeCAD is, I plan on using it with 3D printing to design parts and am slowly learning it. As of now, I am following the FreeCAD Manual which is great. I am at the 2d drafting step. My problem is that I have drawn the various lines in construction mode and ...

Re: The FreeCAD manual
Hi Yorik, Thanks a lot for this manual! I am a new FreeCAD user, learning it to design parts for 3D printing and the manual so far has been very helpful. Thanks a lot for taking the time to write it. I am gathering some notes so as to update the manual when it is unclear for new users. I will surely...
