Re: Odd surface texture in .3mf export vs model in Freecad

Less TNP, no spline, symmetry I created a "TNP" page on the wiki that redirects to the wiki page explaining the topological naming problem . All you have to do is to type TNP into your post as you're already doing, select the acronym, and hit the "wiki" button on the Reply messa...

Re: How do I thicken an Additive Loft?

Something has to move if the thickness increases. Based on what bhs67 wrote in their initial post: The end result would look similar to stacking a second body on top of the original body. This would be the only condition that meets bhs67"s requirements: FC021_InsertElliptical_bhs67.png But I'm...

Re: Fillet fails

How about being proactive and asking OCCT how much they would expect as a sponsorship to work on that? ;) Marvelous idea! You're welcome to make the approach with the OCCT company. The lead office is located in your country after all. ;) More seriously: I very much doubt this could be paid off by a...

Re: Fillet fails

Instead of pocketing the cylinder, you can pad it as usual (with external geometry). I guess you do not know me, I'm well aware of that. ;) I was active around here up to 3 ½ years ago for nearly a decade. I helped newcomers back when FreeCAD didn't have a tenth of the features it has now. One thin...

Re: Cannot create a simple fillet

Hi Matt, The issue is the residual edge left after Pad002. The fillet and chamfer operations are very brittle and prone to fails. The solution here is to apply a refine to the Fillet feature. With the Fillet feature selected in the Model tree, you will find a "Refine" property under the Da...

Re: Fillet fails

Easily reproducible and likely an OCCT related issue, but I would concur that this is fundamentally poor behavior and is likely related to OCCT's behavior regarding fillet/chamfer overlap/consumption of faces/edges. This may be worth investigating some kind of workaround or PR to OCCT directly prio...

Re: Fillet fails

The first (0.01mm) fillet is to modify the edges of the next fillet. Nice workaround, such a tiny fillet won't even be visible. The issue here is of course tangency where the cylinder meets the planar face. Making this first fillet eliminates the tangency. Another method would be to model the cylin...

Re: [ Feature Request ]: adding "chamfer" in the parameters of hole feature

why would you countersink both sides? I see no usecase for this I gather you are not familiar with the manufacturing industry? Have you ever looked at an hexagon nut? Look at it from both sides. There are small chamfers on both ends. If you don't have small chamfers (not countersinks), trying to th...

Re: Countersink holes for hex nuts

Countersink holes for hex nuts Hello, I just want to point out that you are not using the correct terminology. A countersink is for a flat head screw (conical head). What you are talking about is a counterbore which is typically for cap screws (cylindrical head). This image is taken from Wikipedia ...
