Re: Issues with Placement dialog

Yes, this controls then the attachment offset... The placement can be seen as a global position and works when objects are explicit, so to say they are not associated (eg not constructed parametrically with a feature history). The attachment mechanism is meant for an associated workflow where the di...

Re: Issues with Placement dialog

Objects that are attached cannot be changed by direct placement manipulation, attachment mechanism overrides and locks the placement, it's the basic of an associative / parametric design...

Re: Curves workbench

The issue with the value 0 for Draft Analysis is basically the same as with my proposed improvements for the unstable colors in the Surface Analysis. The thing is, when we for example say that values above 0 should be red and values below 0 should be blue, we imagine something like this... shader_an...

Re: Material overhaul

Just a few more images of material editing dialogs and hatching properties in different cad systems for a more wider comparison review... Note: from all the cad system reviewed so far, Inventor does not seem to have an option for the hatches in the default material editor (image below left), but has...

Re: Material overhaul

Not to discourage this conversation in any way, but I'm just lurking and learning right now. Be aware that this is looking like post-v1 work though. Different from Simulations and Rendering that can have a tone of properties each, there is probably not that much to Drafting and at least the basic c...

Re: Material overhaul

This should IMO absolutely be part of the materials, in fact if we split the material properties in to different domains like simulations, rendering, etc, we could say that hatching is actually the basic of the core "CAD" domain... This could be useful also for other things not just TechDr...

Re: Freecad often has issues with STEP files exportes from Solidworks

Partly fixed by downgrading the bad Solid13 to faces with Draft -> Downgrade; manually recreating the bad face with new Face417 and recreating the solid with Part -> Create shape ( -> Shell from faces -> Solid from shell); or alternatively by Draft -> Upgrade (twice, to compound and to solid) https:...
