Please post your FreeCAD detailed info as outlined in the IMPORTANT... (top of the page). Also if possible please include the FreeCAD file to facilitate the debugging. Screenshots are great, but to verify it's a bug we need to create a test case that you already created

You mean another wave of CAD refugees coming to FreeCAD? The first one was after AutoCAD changed the conditions and it was a big one...

It's a shot in the dark, but I saw looo being involved in mesh unwrapping. Maybe he knows what's the reason.

Rotating in manually to exactly horizontal position is fairly easy - I though you want to find out why it was created at an angle.

That's not an answer, but quick tests shows that unwrapped mesh location is always the same. It's not related to the location of the mesh.

I think you might be better off with Inkscape if all you need is 2D dxf with some stuff that needs to be engraved.
