Re: The design group

but don't worry, a fork is underway. It takes more time than we anticipated. Sorry about that As someone who has spent the last year trying to improve FreeCAD, I know how hard it is -- And I was trying to do it WITHOUT dividing the community. You're a smart guy. Smarter than me. I wish you all the ...

Re: The design group

Now what could we do about this? I don't know that there's anything that we can do....or should do. People will use the tools that they want to use and we can't mandate anything. We need to recognize the reality that the FreeCAD ecosystem is growing and there isn't one single community anymore. The...

Re: The design group

In my opinion we should please mostly people/companies who donate. Those companies don't need FreeCAD. They can give their money to the big boys and get their professional product for it. It is in everyone's best interest to have a viable open-source alternative. Even companies that never run FreeC...

Re: Topological naming mess vs Realtunder : when can we hope for a solution?

i do not have piles of cash, sadly, but i do want to donate or help where i can. I am not a programmer by any means, but since i have used freecad alot and done some great things, i feel it deserves some help. As others have already said, this isn't the kind of problem that can be solved by throwin...

Understanding who our users are...really

To make Ondsel and FreeCAD great, we need a much better understanding of who's using it and how. We've put together a brief (less than 5 minutes) survey that will help. We'll share key findings but we need YOU to respond. Seriously important!

Re: Splitting job for multiple bits

First create the pocket with the large bit.

Next create a similar pocket with the small bit.

In the small bit pocket operation, tick 'use REST machining'

Re: Sketcher Toolbars

We're planning several days of hackathon at Fosdem in February. One goal is to get real users sitting in front of a desktop and trying to use FreeCAD. I encourage everyone here with strong opinions to come and participate. I guarantee it will be a painful and humbling experience. Pontificating, blov...

Re: Where do we stand with Camotics as a visualizer?

@Sliptonic In the end, is Camotics going to replace the actual Freecad simulator? Or can we go on and make updates to the internal simulator? (see my post on discord) Absolutely, you can make improvements to the internal. Highly welcome. The two solutions can happily co-exist. If Camotics matures f...

Re: Where do we stand with Camotics as a visualizer?

That's correct. We require 1.3.0. Unfortunately, camotics has it in their changelog but never released it formally.

Re: Tool path on wrong height

GRBL does not accept tool changes so there is no need to take steps with different tools in the job FYI, you can set up a job with multiple operations with different tools. In the output tab, set 'order by' to 'operation' and enable the split output. This will split the gcode into multiple files so...
