Re: fcFEM - FEA from start to finish
Hi Harry,
I'm pretty amazed by what you are able to do ! Hopefully, I'll be able someday to read your code, and understand it.
I was wondering: which boundary conditions are applied to the plate with hole ? I see some X translations on the far left edge that I did not expect.

Re: GMSH for compound
Hi, not sure if this can be of any help, but when I need a point to be present in the generated nodes on a surface I use the Point | Curve { expression-list } In Surface { expression }; command. Maybe in this way, once the first of the two mating surfaces is meshed, GMSH can be forced to insert new ...
Re: OOFem
Thank you guys !
I'll need to inspect more closely this solver and become proficient in plain OOFem before embarking in such a project.

OOFem
Hello,
I wonder if the OOFem finite element code has been evaluated for a possible support in FreeCAD: http://www.oofem.org/
For what I can see in the manual, it seems that this solver may be well suited for civil/structural engineering : http://www.oofem.org/en/manual

Re: Photo-realistic rendering of FreeCAD models with CADRays
Hi, thanks !
It's a really basic setup, I just increased the bouncing to 5, clamping is set to 30, I used the default lighting map, about 1 min baking on a GTX 750. I can post the entire setup later.

Hi,
these are some preliminary renders of parts of a 3d printer I'm designing.
Cadrays already proves to be a really valuable tool !
