Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

It doesn't use BOLTS, however I'm proposing to add these dimensions to BOLTS so that it can use BOLTS :) After all, for a lot of architectural design the exact style of the annotation doesn't matter, but it is incredibly useful to know typical dims for furniture. The steel libraries use BOLTS, natur...

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

It's in IFC4 AU Library.ifc here https://github.com/IfcOpenShell/IfcOpen ... /libraries

There is an example of it used here https://youtu.be/ewvlodE1Nxg?t=620

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

An update that although architectural stuff is not (yet?) in BOLTS we now generate a ton of libraries from what you saw in the architectural spreadsheet linked earlier. This is now distributed as an IFC library, and we hope to continually extend it in the future.

Re: Integration of BlenderBIM Feaures : FreeCAD Arch/BIM - Native IFC

There is a hello world crash course on low level core functionality here: https://blenderbim.org/docs-python/ifcopenshell-python/hello_world.html There are code examples here for frequent usecases: https://blenderbim.org/docs-python/ifcopenshell-python/code_examples.html There is extensive documenta...

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

Thanks @Laurie Hartley ! I have forwarded it to Andrej, the developer who is kindly working on bringing the data into BOLTS and integrating it into IFC :) (though I'm not sure Zeds will make it into FreeCAD, I think @bernd needs to build support for Zeds with lips)

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

At the moment we are only collecting architectural data in a spreadsheet but the data isn't yet part of BOLTS nor is it supported by any backends. There is a discussion on the OSArch forums on how to best handle architectural data: https://community.osarch.org/discussion/1192/ifctype-furnishing-set-...

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

@Laurie Hartley do you know any good tables for Cee and Zed profiles? I only have the Lysaght referee but that only contains dimensional data not other structural properties.

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

Started collecting information on basic Architectural dimensions (in the future, I reckon it could include common manufacturer catalogues). See https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HVwG0P0aEwq5p7SvRL1Q_IqJURqZJ5T5NF4rj9S5mVY/edit#gid=0 - Generally some stuff for AU/NZ and South Africa so far. Jus...

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

Indeed, currently the BOLTS data merely transcribes a size and a thickness, and this happens both for Bluescope as well as European profiles: - https://github.com/boltsparts/boltsparts/blob/main/data/profile_hollow/hollow_bluescope_square.yaml - https://github.com/boltsparts/boltsparts/blob/main/dat...

Re: BOLTS for architectural components?

Yes, they are wrong. The developer I sponsored to work on digitising the tables is not trained as an engineer and incorrectly mixed up the nominal bore and the outer diameter. I'll ask him to fix it (he already has a script which parses it so it should be very quick to fix). Thanks for the heads up!...
