Off topic - 3d printers
Hi All, I'm thinking of getting a 3D printer, but there seems to be a multitude of different options and I don't really know where to start! It looks like one of the cheap Prusa I3 kits might be worth a go, as I do prefer to stick with open source type stuff. I don't really have specific projects in...

Re: Part Design Next: sweep
Thanks - yes, that works, multi section in the "Transform mode" box does let you have multiple profiles!
Although, it crashes on most examples I've tried - should I raise a bug report?

Re: Part Design Next: sweep
Thanks NormandC! Perfect, that was what I was looking for! Interestingly, when I try your file, it crashes on generating the sweep, but the one I made seems to work ok - see attached file. Like you say, it looks like part design sweep only supports one profile - I wonder if that's intentional? @free...

Part Design Next: sweep
Hi All, I'm having a play with part design next, and trying to figure out how things work. One thing I was trying to do was create a sweep - so I need a path to follow, and some way of placing sketches orthogonal to the the path. I figure I could add perpendicular lines to my sketch at the points I ...

Re: equilateral triangle about the origin
Assuming you are using sketcher, to get it centered on the origin, you can draw constructions lines from each point of the triangle to the origin, and constrain those to be equal.

Re: Lighting
Perfect, thanks very much!
As an aside, does anyone know if it's possible to create user defined materials?

Lighting
Hi All, I've been having a blast playing with the new part design stuff in 0.17 - awesome, many thanks to all involved for that!!! But one thing has been irritating me a bit while I've been playing around again, related to the lighting. When a face is at a very narrow angle to your viewpoint, it bec...

Re: Arch - windows and doors
That is: when I create a window in a wall using a sketch, a NEW piece of geometry would be created, and the old one hidden. This is how part design avoids circular references - the sketches are all based on geometry unaffected by the sketch itself. This is a part of FC i don't like… some times i wa...

Re: Install on Mac OSX 10.9.5
Hi, I think when you double click the zip file, it just creates a directory in your download directory from where you can run the application. You can drag the application icon from here into your application directory. I don't think it automatically assigns the FreeCAD file type to the application ...
