Re: QtWidgets

In my experience, distribution upgrades are always a risky business. They can mess up a system pretty bad. Myself I always make a fresh install. Yes, you are right. But I have been living with this since long, and able to learn many new things from such mess ;-) I recommend you remove any freecad r...

Re: QtWidgets

You have to install PySide2 and shiboken2 which offer the Python bindings for Qt5. To install FreeCAD.18 stable I did distribution upgrade from Ubuntu 16 LTS to 18LTS. FreeCAD stable: OS: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.18.1. Build type: Release Py...

Re: Felt in FEM Workbench

it is the most up to date documentation on how to add a new solver. Just start with the first commit which starts with "FEM: oofem, ... " Check every commit step by step. You should do the same steps. @Sudhanshu The above is the great advice by @bernd Start following it, and whatever diff...

Re: GSOC 2019 Thread (Potential student participants discuss application ideas with mentoring organizations)

Currently I am trying to include Felt FEM solver in FreeCAD. That discussion is here: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=33463 I would like to take the inclusion of Felt in FreeCAD as a project if anyone is ready to mentor me on that. Great! Would like to see FElt workin gin Free...

Re: UTF issue with ifc import

My advice, either switch to a more recent Python version or try the 27 and 27u builds below. Let me know whether this resolves your issue. Re: UTF issue with ifc import

Yes, relying on packages not available in distributions is always a problem. But @kkremitzki is busy trying to package and get ifcopenshell into debian/ubuntu. This would help things a lot...
