Re: Proposed cut pattern updates: PR #4965

Ok now, I have to come out of hiding to say that this looks really great!
As soon as I have a machine I'll test this.

Re: new Measurement tool

I already made sure this tool was in global workbench for me. It is fantastic. Takes all that's good in Manipulator and then makes it sweeter. This should be the default measurement tool in replacement of both the old Measure and the 0.18 Measurement tools, they used to be good when it was all we ha...

Re: Trying to add Shell equation for Elmer

Amazing work of documentation and developer empowerment. To be truly complete i would say that a link to the Elmer documentation of equations (called solvers in Elmer terminology) would increase the general ability of the user. Unfortunately i have currently no time to give at all, but I have accumu...

Re: Error while generating a circular path?

Granted I use state of the art industrial CNC, but if i want a circle I input G02 X0 Y0 I(radius) J0 and that's a circle. No need to break it down in arcs or segments or whatever. The CAM may be authorized to make 2 arcs maybe, but the rest should be the work of the post processor if the specific NC...

Re: Is Freecad good for 3D printing?

I would add simply that Yes, FreeCAD is good for 3D printing. You can easily generate.stl files and you can also very well control the accuracy (tesselation) of your .stl file. The rest (slicer, printing) will be done outside using extremely potent printing programs like Ideamaker or Prusaslicer or....

Re: 3D Surface - differences between releases

Hi friend,

There's now one more hoop to jump through (the first one being EnableExperimentalFeatures): go to Edit, Preferences, Path and in the last tab you'll have a tick box to enable access to OpenCamLib features.

Happy milling,

Re: Supplemental From Shape (2D) machining order

Is this the part where someone suggests that the PathWB be able to distinguish layers from a 2D dxf file created either through Draft or imported? Probably not. Super glad you could manage to solve your issue. Regarding the PostProcessor you can modify or use every Z retract as a flag for M4 M5. (Or...

Re: Gmsh applied on threaded fastener inside a threaded hole produces warnings

From what i understand of your problem it's not a meshing error. It's a geometry error. The gap between the threaded hole and threaded screw is already a problem in itself. It might be of use to redesign the problem in a simpler way and not using the fastener directly to check other functionalities....

Re: Centering origin between edges or middle of circle

Isn't the Workfeatures workbench perfect for this? Place the necessary datums and bingo. Alternatively the PartDesign DatumPoint is great too. Personally I have a little crush on Local Coordinate Systems (clearly defined in space and all...). And then you use any of the above to Set your Job referen...

Re: multiphysics fem in freecad

but the impact for users is huge and there is no open source tool doing that really! Yes indeed! Advantages of sparselizard over Elmer: you get an extremely concise and readable code without loss of capabilities or speed, so from that part you are not getting lost in 1000 lines of Elmer code and ma...
