Re: 3-d surface.
That seems overkill unless you have access to high end industrial grade CNCs. I do not have a high-end machine. However, there are at least three other factors. * The "Gaugemaker's Rule" says that measurement precision should be 10X better than the needed physical dimensions. I exte...

Re: Converting STL to GCODE .....
This would be a 15 minute modeling job in FreeCAD for an experienced user. Capture.PNG I believe trying to convert an STL file will be difficult and will not produce good results. I would not want to try the conversion. Perhaps someone else on the forum will see this and have a more optimistic view...

Re: 3-d surface.
This is undoubtedly good news. But HOW?! Question - how long did the calculation take? The 3D Surface uses meshes extensively. I find that the processing time is extremely dependent on the "linear deflection". I usually start with a coarse number, such as 0.025 mm, to make sure the operat...

Re: How to use another object in another Body as reference?
But what if I whish to extract an object from another Body? How can I achieve that? You can easily duplicate sketches in another body. It is not clear what an "object" means in a body, but if you mean a Pad, for example, I would just copy the underlying sketch and make a new Pad in the se...

Re: error occured while compiling, hard to explain in several words
Does anyone know how to fix this, thanks for your attention, please. It appears you are compiling for Windows. Why are you compiling version 0.21? There are fully working precompiled releases available. How are you getting the source code for version 0.21? Most often the latest Master (Main) version,...

Re: Sketcher Toolbars
This is my proposal, I link the mockup here: This is more or less perfect for me, except I don't use the + icon. The geometry tools could be significantly reduced for me. I use the line, circle, arc, and rectangle about 99.9% of the time. I virtually never use the conics, the various polyhedrons, o...

Re: 3-d surface.
What am I doing wrong? I have no idea, but I did not have any problem creating a 3D Surface operation. Capture.PNG I did not change any of your parameters. I do not know what sort of pattern you want so I just chose a simple pattern as shown. I am on Windows, and my version is a couple of weeks old...

Re: Converting STL to GCODE .....
new to freecad. have stl files and need to convert to g-code for milling. Can someone take me through the process please? STL files are not optimum for milling, but it can be done. The best thing at this time is that you provide all the important information about about your FreeCAD installation us...

Re: Sketcher Toolbars
So overall I think that this proposal in current state is very bad from the UX point of view. Sez who??? You recently came on the FreeCAD scene as a self-proclaimed UX expert and started changing things. No coordination, no attempt to understand the FreeCAD history; just do it my way. (Your prefere...
