Re: Missing "Selecting" button in Mirror function (Part)

Thank you! what's a pity, it was a very useful function, I hope it will be reintroduced... Can you tell me if there is other way to mirror objects on custom planes? Works fine here: OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) (XFCE/xfce) Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.22.0dev.36913 (Git) Build type...

Re: DAG Error - Help

Hmm...7 Datum planes to start. That's almost more DP's than I've used in over 10 years of working with FC.

:o
:P
Can you post the file?

Re: Converting Mesh objects to solid

Thanks for your comments drmacro. . I hope I am not missing something but selecting the Part WB does not allow selection of the pad or pocket tools, at least on my version of FreeCAD. I have included the original .stl file but the .FCstd file I have created is 1.2Mb and exceeds the allowed limit of...

Re: Converting Mesh objects to solid

... as far as the eye can judge the plane grid and text are aligned to the model edge I require but when I return to the Part WB, select the Shapestring in the Combo view and try to pad it, I get the message that this will result in multiple solids which is not supported at this time; I have also t...

Re: Problem making simple cut work (Part WB, Helix)

... I'd still like to understand why the part cut failed with the corrected sweep attached below. ... Unfortunately, there are internal processes with OCCT (modelling kernel used by FreeCAD) that are not perfect due to things like round-off and numerical precision. This means the conditions for a s...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts from different workbenches

Is there a way to use Keyboard shortcuts from other workbenches? For example, if I'm in the Draft Workbench and I want to move an item, I use M,V to invoke the MOVE dialog. However, if I'm in the Part Workbench, then this doesn't work and I have to change to the Draft Workbench. This used to work i...

Re: Feature request: Remove Torus from Part workbenchs Solids toolbar

The toolbar rework makes sense. I rarely use primitives in Part or Part Design. But, those who do have definite use cases. And, some of the use cases mentioned so far are very legitimate. In Part, they probably don't need to be on a main toolbar and duplicated in the "Create primitives" to...

Re: External geometry (or alternative) best practices?

Thanks for the info! @drmacro - I tried referencing the edge of the original sketch rather than the generated feature (pad), but the same problem still occurs. When I modify the first sketch, it seems that the edges are renamed, and the external geometry breaks. @chrisb - Good to know about the mas...

For a better runout add another angled helix at the top.

The Extend curve from Curves workbench will provide the runout in one helix.

Is there a reason not to use it?

Re: External geometry (or alternative) best practices?

The point that should be the take away form the wiki is that attaching anything to generated geometry make the model prone to TNP. If you attach a Datum plane to generated geometry it provides no relief. Sketches have all the capabilities for location as a Datum plane. So, using a Datum as support f...
