Re: Simple engraving question

Hello again, I tried another file to get the process of setting up an engraving job using imported images down, and I'm clearly missing a step. This combines an imported image and a couple of stringshapes that have been converted to sketches, and then the sketches were combined. I then used the 'fro...

Re: Simple engraving question

Yes, I was. And I found a way to do it using the fromshape operation properly (use the linked sketch when setting up the job). I just tried a first version of this on my tiny router and it worked (file is attached). I think I just need to do several more projects to get the workflow solid. I thank y...

Re: Simple engraving question

Sorry about that :( The delay in responding is solely due to life happening here... I created another file in an attempt to just engrave a traced image. Attached is the file and the error log that resulted from trying to execute the engrave operation. I am sadly coming to the conclusion that FreeCAD...

Re: Simple engraving question

Hi, I enabled the experimental feature as suggested, and it creates a feature area outside the job. It seems to just contain a reference to the sketch made from the imported image plane. I cannot get a usable tool path generated from it. How do I generate a tool path? And what is a feature area anyw...

Question about G-Code

Hello all, I downloaded a program called DMap2gcode to see about trying 3D carving. After generating a grayscale image to work with, I looked at the generated gcode to see what it produced. What I saw puzzled me: G17 G90 G64 P0.001 M3 S3000 G21 G0 Z6.3500 F381.0000 F25.0000 G0 X100.0000 Y100.0000 F3...
