Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

I see your point; but the Mesh workbench already offered Netgen as an option as mesher (as well as Mephisto) but the exposed options are limited, and also reflecting the fact that the mesh workbench is designed with triangular meshes in mind. So I understand you enlarged the access to more complex m...

Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

Hi Bernd - surely this is good!

But what's different from using the Mesh workbench for meshing a shell? (I usually do that)

Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

Hi Bernd, I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing here - I have not deeply tested the FEM workbench in itself, but at least from the tutorials and demos I see that the basic FEM_MeshNetgenFromShape creates a volume mesh, as I expect. There could be other simulations where you just use surfa...

Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

We plan to be using the materials sooner or later, but for the time being it is an overshoot probably. FasterCap format is the same of FastCap, but this is pretty specific to those solvers I'm afraid. Also, it is based on pure surface panels geometrical descriptions (akin to what the Mesh workbench ...

Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

I'm happy to announce that a beta version of the FreeCAD E.M. workbench for FastHenry is available for testing. In the end, we decided for a stand-alone workbench, to be added in the FreeCAD addons page . In this way, it can be readily used on the 0.17 stable version for any user. Eventually, if pos...

Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

@Kunda1: there is not a ready-to-use workbench yet, but some macro code. The intention of my message was to announce the start of the activity, not the upload of a complete workbench, so that the community can also provide opinions and comments, for example if merging the macros into the FEM workben...

Re: Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

Hi Bernd, regarding your questions: What kind of elements do you use? If SMESH does support this element type most FEM mesh related methods will work The answer changes according to the solver. We support FastHenry, FastCap, FasterCap, FastImp, VoxHenry. In the specific case, we are working with fir...

Electromagnetic Workbench - again..

Hi All, you might remember (or might not..) that some time ago I briefly announced my company's intention to start an electromagnetic workbench, in the early days of FreeCAD FEM. We then published a minimal set of macros to be used for our solver FasterCap. Many events happened since then, one of th...

Re: The FreeCAD manual

I think the "master" should be the wiki For me, Yorik's opinion is 'master' here ;) . Also the reason is good: When 0.17 will be out, a good part of the book will be outdated. I'm not sure at all I'll have time to change the book, so it has more chances to keep up to date on the wiki... B...

Re: The FreeCAD manual

Hi Yorik, all, I finished my review of the manual. Overall I have 138 comments. After the first indication by Yorik about how to provide comments (.. do as you wish :) ), I opted for comments in the exported pdf version, as this was more handy for me. I would have inserted comments directly in gitbo...
