That's fine. But in practice that's how it gets used And I don't see anything wrong with that. Much better if IFC can be used than a more lossy format.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 5:14 pm ifc is not used as a data exchange format in a bim process, only as a reference model

Re: Linked files and IFC export
I don't know much about the IFC schema, so I don't how it handles, say, doors of same types. But, at the moment, Freecad does not export std_links. Instead of manually having to unlink the objects and make them local in the current file, it would be ideal if the IFC exporter could do that in the sam...

Re: Draft Autogroup not working anymore
Thank you! Definitely thing that this feature is a huge timesaver!matthijskooijman wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 4:35 pm I've submitted a PR to fix the preference, which makes autogroup work with layers *and* groups again (if enabled in Draft preferences): https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/pull/4810

Re: Links and arch objects errors
It must be something with the mirror. As, plain clones of the one leg, all inside of the part and then in a arch component works alright. I do still wish the building_part works with link though.

Links and arch objects errors
Not sure if it's not implemented or I am doing something wrong, but I am noticing that std_link fails with architectural projects in some cases. std_part works fine, but i don't like the behaviour of click through in a link, which arch_component does not exhibit. FreeCAD_CAIhLWsiX3.png placing the s...

Re: Open *.Dwg with Qcad Pro in FCAD
Can you check if any error message appears in the report window? Other thing to test is with a file path that has no spaces or special characters in it, does it work any better? the syntax of dwg2dwg is very simple, so one can also test in a terminal: C:\path\to\...\dwg2dwg.exe -o "C:\path\to\...

Re: Freecad to Blender best practice?
one possibility is ifc. I have had good results when I make a simple copy in part and then export it as an ifc, so far everything has always been complete. attributes are lost. In my opinion, attributes only work in closed-bim solutions and no ifc is used there I tried IFC 4, but it failed to expor...

Re: Draft.string from a parameters (or expression)
It already is: - Create the Arch_Text with a dummy string. - Right click the "Text" field in the Property editor and select "Expression...". - Enter f.e.: list(<<Cube length: %s>> % Box.Length; <<Cube width: %s>> % Box.Width; <<Cube height: %s>> % Box.Height) Got it! A bit of a ...

Re: [Bug?] Link Group cannot be selected in viewport
HI Realthunder! First off, thanks for the awesome feature! I don't think proper architecture work was possible in regards to managing libraries of doors, windows, etc, prior to having Std_Link Well, it ambiguous to the software what the user's intention is when selecting in 3D view. If you are using...

Re: Open *.Dwg with Qcad Pro in FCAD
Also curious about this. I've tried on Windows, set the importer to QCAD Pro in the import DWG settings, without setting a path, nothing. Then setting the path to the binary qcad, freecad then freezes, try to import then nothing. Then the dwg2dwg lib and also not working. Is there another file that ...
