Changing the FreeCAD home directory

Hi, Is there a way to change the FreeCAD home directory to point to the directory where my pics for Sketcher are stored? Every time I select the 'Import Picture' tool, it takes me to the FreeCAD directory. I've looked under preferences etc., but can't find anything that lets me change the default di...

Re: Converting model aircraft plans into a 3D model for printing

I don't seem to get those options, B-Spline. Probably because I am using an older version of FreeCAD? If 0.17 runs on Win7, I'll download it to my laptop and be done with it - plug the lappy into my large LCD and full sized keyboard and mouse. To those suggesting Linux - I have a Ubuntu drive somewh...

Re: Converting model aircraft plans into a 3D model for printing

Had a bit of a play with sketch mode and got the arc thing working. Not as neat and tidy as yours Salp, but it's at least a step forward. Thanks :)

I guess I'm a bit more used to splines... but getting there...

Re: Converting model aircraft plans into a 3D model for printing

Thanks for all your replies. There is a reason I'm still using Win XP on this machine - I have expensive legacy software that won't run on later versions of Windows. It's a Catch 22 - Windows/Intel etc. keep upgrading their stuff (instead of just sticking with ONE and making it bug free and secure/t...

Re: Converting model aircraft plans into a 3D model for printing

That's waaaaay further than I've been able to get so far, Bejant. How did you manage to draw that circle on part #1 so accurately? I don't seem to be getting anywhere trying to trace using FreeCAD despite the 10's of hours I've spent trying to learn FreeCAD, and my Gimp trace is a shocker (attached)...

Re: Converting model aircraft plans into a 3D model for printing

Thanks for the welcome and your feedback so far, Guys. What should be a relatively easy thing to do is driving me start raving bonkers. My main problem so far is trying to find a way of accurately tracing those outlines and getting them into FreeCAD so I can assemble them and finally produce a mesh ...

Re: Converting model aircraft plans into a 3D model for printing

Starting with the nose of the airframe, these are the first 2 cross-sections I would like to turn into parts.

They need to be centred according the the broken line cross, and are 66mm apart.
